For me, it's not so much about a New Year, New Beginnings, but New Year, time to reflect and move forward.
It's cold outside, heck, it's cold inside too. Time for a hot water bottle and wrap as I sit at my desk typing. How will I go forward in 2026? I want to create more good habits, habits that benefit me, ditch old habits that no longer serve me well. I used to leave the washing up (dishes) until the next morning, but an creating a new habit of washing up before I go to bed, knowing that when I wake up in the morning and put the kettle on, the kitchen looks clearer and cleaner. This makes me smile and I feel better, a little lift for the day. I haven't got to the point where I habitually wash the dishes every night before going to bed, but I'm getting there, it's a work in progress. And so can you, you can create small changes and make them you new habits. They don't have to be huge goals and fantastic gestures, but small changes make a difference. What will your new habit be? Start small, and when they become so habitual you no longer see them as a drag, maybe go a bit bigger or add something else, you may be surprised at what you achieve.
